Six residents ink over 500 Agreements of Sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>-during housing outreach <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hundreds of Region 6 residents benefited from a wide range of housing-related services on\u00a0Saturday, when the Ministry of Housing, through the Central Housing and Planning Authority\u00a0CHMPA, hosted an outreach in Corriverton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outreach saw a significant turnout with more than 500 residents signing Agreements\u00a0of Sale for house lots allocated within the Upper Corentyne Area.<\/p>\n\n\n<div Minister of Housing Collin Croal underscored the massive housing development\u00a0across Region Six.\u00a0As residents signed the agreements that bring them even closer to home ownership, Croal\u00a0assured that government will continue investing heavily to meet the increasing demand for\u00a0house lots and regularisation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Croal committed to ensuring that beneficiaries who signed their agreements\u00a0of sale will receive their certificates of title within three months once all requirements\u00a0are met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;I want to say now, because we are also putting our checking balances in-house at the Ministry,\u00a0that once you sign, there should be no glitch after that and the processing of the title\u00a0must be done within three months,&#8221;<\/strong> the minister told beneficiaries.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" Croal<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>He revealed that over 8,000 pending housing applications in the region are expected to\u00a0be cleared by the end of the year, a move he says will significantly reduce the backlog\u00a0and provide relief to thousands of applicants.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Minister within the Ministry of Housing Vanessa Benn noted that the $159.4\u00a0billion allocated to the housing sector in this year&#8217;s national budget will support\u00a0continued expansion of the housing schemes.\u00a0It will also go towards infrastructure works and improve the service delivery across the\u00a0country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;Within the housing sector alone, the construction sector, that grew last year by over 25 per cent.\u00a0The more and more these things happen, more people are making blocks, more people are\u00a0providing stone, more people are providing sand, working as laborers,\u00a0being contractors, drawing plans,&#8221;<\/strong> she said. <strong>&#8220;And so we cannot just look at an event like this and just think it is an opportunity for\u00a0you to be able to get your title or be able to be allocated, but see that it is an activity\u00a0that provides work.\u00a0It helps to support persons to put food on the table for their families.\u00a0And overall, every time, it helps your country to grow and it helps your family to improve.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" Housing, Vanessa Benn<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Residents also had the opportunity to process certificates of title and transports, as well\u00a0as uplift steel and cement subsidy vouchers, initiatives aimed at supporting construction\u00a0and accelerating housing development.\u00a0Several beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing the signing\u00a0of their agreements of sale as a major milestone in their journey toward owning their own homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stephone Joseph told NCN that the house lot provided by the ministry has empowered him with the tools to become independent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been really good for me as a young man, you know, that you start working and you apply\u00a0for land and things, because when you get a family, you need a land.\u00a0I feel really happy that I can own a house lot now of my own, and I want to thank the\u00a0government for giving me a house lot,&#8221; Joseph said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outreach forms part of government&#8217;s ongoing drive to make housing more accessible and\u00a0affordable for Guyanese.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>-during housing outreach
