The University of Guyana today formally installed Sir Ronald Sanders as its 11th Chancellor during a ceremony held at the George Walcott Lecture Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event marks a significant milestone in the institution\u2019s history as it continues to position itself at the forefront of national and regional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivering remarks at the ceremony, President Dr. Irfaan Ali congratulated Sir Sanders on accepting the appointment, describing his career as one defined by excellence in diplomacy, and public service.<\/p>\n\n\n

The President expressed confidence that under Sir sander\u2019s stewardship, the University\u2019s sacred mission would be pursued with renewed energy and vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As the University of Guyana advances towards its inevitable destiny as a world class center of tertiary education, his knowledge international stature and tested leadership will be an immeasurable asset to him, University gains not only a chancellor but someone who ensure that the university\u2019s standing will rise globally<\/strong>,”<\/em> he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his maiden address as Chancellor, Sir Ronald Sanders outlined a vision for strengthening academic excellence, pledging his full support.<\/p>\n\n\n

“There can be no nobler task and none more vital to the development of a resilient and confident Guyana in a highly competitive world. That is a task before this university and it is a task to which I gladly and humbly pledge my hand,” Sanders asserted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also took the opportunity to pay tribute to broadcasters on the occasion of World Radio Day, acknowledging that radio is where his service to the Caribbean began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sir Ronald succeeds a distinguished line of ten former Chancellors, the most recent being professor John Edward Greene, who previously served in the role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
