The\u00a0$93 million Albion-Chesney Nursery School was commissioned\u00a0this week,\u00a0improving access\u00a0to early childhood education.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed to accommodate up to 120 pupils, the facility is equipped with modern amenities including a sickbay, kitchen, and spacious classrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n

Minister of Education, Sonia Parag said the new school will allow children to access early childhood education closer to their homes and align with government efforts to improve access to education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“And that is what this government\u2019s\u00a0investment is about. It\u2019s not telling someone we\u2019ve moved from 20 to 100 schools. It is telling someone that we were able to give access where there was no access to education to all of our children who deserve it. Kilcoy\/Chesney forms the largest NDC area in Region 6 and therefore we have a lot of people living in this area; a lot of children living in this area. And so what this school is designed to do and built to do is to accommodate those children who would\u2019ve had to go a distance\u00a0to earn an education,”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Pupils were previously housed at the Albion Back and Fyrish Nursery Schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regional Chairman Junior Basant noted that the new school will significantly reduce overcrowding at those institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the facility represents equity in the distribution of resources, ensuring that every child has access to a conducive learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This proximity is especially important\u00a0for our working parents and guardians who can now balance their responsibility with greater ease knowing that their children are learning and\u00a0growing in a secure space.<\/strong>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regional Education Officer Sattish Udit also welcomed the new facility and urged that it be properly maintained to ensure they continue to serve future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
