{"id":28226,"date":"2026-01-30T22:59:54","date_gmt":"2026-01-31T02:59:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=28226"},"modified":"2026-01-30T22:59:54","modified_gmt":"2026-01-31T02:59:54","slug":"budget-2026-8000-homes-to-be-constructed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/budget-2026-8000-homes-to-be-constructed\/","title":{"rendered":"Budget 2026: 8000 Homes\u00a0to be constructed\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>The&nbsp;government is ramping up housing development nationwide, with plans to build 40,000 homes, clear a major backlog of applicants, and expand support for homeowners.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0five-year\u00a0housing agenda will be\u00a0implemented, beginning with\u00a0a budgetary allocation of\u00a0$159.1 billion this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister of Housing Collin Croal\u00a0says Budget 2026 reinforces\u00a0the\u00a0government\u2019s commitment to home ownership, with significant investments in land development, infrastructure, and large-scale house construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;We<\/strong> <strong>are committing to be able to build 40,000 houses in this period. And again, let&#8217;s put into context what we, this is, we have never done even 10,000 in one period, and we&#8217;re going to be doing 40,000<\/strong>,&#8221; he said during a recent interview. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The minister&nbsp;says the first phase will see 8,000 homes built in 2026, using faster construction methods to meet&nbsp;the&nbsp;growing demand, especially from working families and young professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside new construction, the ministry is also moving to clear&nbsp;the&nbsp;backlog of housing applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are currently 75,000 pending applicants, with more than 50,000 in Region Four&nbsp;alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;We\u00a0intend to clear the backlog for house lots, and we will have a little lag for region four.
