{"id":28094,"date":"2026-01-24T03:28:51","date_gmt":"2026-01-24T07:28:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=28094"},"modified":"2026-01-24T03:28:52","modified_gmt":"2026-01-24T07:28:52","slug":"tiger-bay-gets-multi-sport-space-as-neighbourhood-love-tournament-opens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/tiger-bay-gets-multi-sport-space-as-neighbourhood-love-tournament-opens\/","title":{"rendered":"Tiger Bay gets multi-sport space as \u2018Neighbourhood Love\u2019 Tournament opens"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>-by Travis Seymour<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tiger Bay community now has access to a new multi-sport recreational space, following the official opening of a community lot at the corner of Queen and Hope Streets, Georgetown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The facility is expected to provide young people in the area with a safe and accessible environment to engage in basketball, futsal and other sporting activities, promoting healthy competition and positive youth development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the opening, President Dr. Irfaan Ali said the Government\u2019s engagement with Tiger Bay is longstanding, noting that many community stalwarts have worked tirelessly over the years to improve the lives of residents. He highlighted ongoing and future initiatives, including relocation efforts aimed at ensuring families benefit from improved living standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Ali assured residents that more development is on the horizon, reiterating his administration\u2019s commitment to inclusive growth as it continues to \u201cbuild for all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Priya Manickchand explained that the space will be jointly utilised by Mattai Supermarket and members of the Tiger Bay community.
