{"id":28065,"date":"2026-01-22T18:30:44","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T22:30:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=28065"},"modified":"2026-01-22T18:30:44","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T22:30:44","slug":"guysol-engages-linden-on-solar-energy-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/guysol-engages-linden-on-solar-energy-development\/","title":{"rendered":"GUYSOL engages Linden on\u00a0Solar\u00a0Energy development"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>GUYSOL, through GPL, has begun consultations in Linden as plans move ahead for major solar energy projects aimed at improving electricity reliability across Region Ten.<br><br>The consultation\u00a0held on Tuesday at the Watooka Guest House\u00a0focused on GUYSOL\u2019s\u00a0upcoming development initiatives, including the planned installation of a 15-megawatt solar photovoltaic system in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will see solar farms installed at Retrieve, Block 37, and\u00a0Dakoura, with Retrieve hosting an 8-megawatt facility,\u00a0Dakoura\u00a03 megawatts, and Block 37,\u00a04 megawatts.\u00a0This\u00a0initiative is expected to roll out\u00a0in\u00a0the first quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Project Coordinator, Amir Dilliwar said that three solar farms will be built in Linden to generate the combined 15 megawatts of power. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stakeholders welcomed the initiative, raising questions about its benefits and long-term impact, particularly as it relates to reducing power outages in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dilliwar\u00a0explained\u00a0that the\u00a022 MW of battery\u00a0storage will\u00a0help stabilise electricity supply, reducing outages and improving reliability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consultation also highlighted the Women in Solar Training Initiative, aimed at increasing female participation in the energy sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are recruiting young women from Linden to be part of\u00a0this five weeks\u00a0training and then the ultimate intention is to allow them to have an apprenticeship period where they work with the contractor building the solar farm to build that skill of\u00a0PV\u00a0installation,&#8221; Dilliwar said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative forms part of GUYSOL\u2019s wider plan to integrate 33 megawatts of solar energy nationally, including 10 megawatts in&nbsp;Berbice and 8mw in Essequibo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, valued at approximately US$22.5\u00a0million,\u00a0is expected to deliver cleaner, more stable and sustainable power supply to the region while\u00a0reducing\u00a0carbon emissions<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GUYSOL, through GPL, has begun consultations in Linden as plans move ahead for major solar energy projects aimed at improving electricity reliability across Region Ten.
