The restoration of City Hall is expected to be completed by mid-2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is according to City Engineer, Colvern Venture, during a recent press conference at the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venture says it will be another 6 months before the public can access the interior of Georgetown\u2019s historic City Hall, as final works continue on the compound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are some minor works to be completed then we have to do some upgrades to the City Engineer building which has a similar fashion so that will be upgraded very shortly and then we will move on to the other building that houses the Mayor\u2019s office,\u201d Venture said.<\/p>\n\n\n

Restoration of the iconic structure began in 2021 under a $780M contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The works included structural strengthening, roof\/ceiling replacement, woodwork and fa\u00e7ade repairs to preserve its historical grandeur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once completed, the restoration is expected to return full functionality to the City Hall compound while preserving its historic character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
