{"id":27770,"date":"2026-01-09T19:10:56","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T23:10:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=27770"},"modified":"2026-01-09T19:11:37","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T23:11:37","slug":"govt-to-invest-in-35-new-airstrips","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/govt-to-invest-in-35-new-airstrips\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t to invest in 35 new airstrips"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><strong>by Celestine Chacon<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government is pressing ahead with an ambitious aviation development agenda, with plans underway to build at least 35 new airstrips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aviation development plan was outlined by President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, who this week commissioned two regional airstrips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has already upgraded and built new airstrips at Port Kaituma, Baramita, Paruima, Phillipai, Eteringbang, Aishalton, Paramakatoi and Lethem.<br>&nbsp;<br>At Thursday\u2019s commissioning of the Aishalton airstrip, the President disclosed that the government will soon invite Expressions of Interest for the financing and construction of more than 30 additional airstrips.<br>&nbsp;<br><strong><em>\u201cWe\u2019re planning an international airport in region nine we\u2019re planning a municipal airport at Rose Hall, Canje in region six.
