{"id":27104,"date":"2025-03-28T18:45:40","date_gmt":"2025-03-28T18:45:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=27104"},"modified":"2025-03-28T18:45:41","modified_gmt":"2025-03-28T18:45:41","slug":"siemens-energy-selected-to-manage-gas-to-energy-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/siemens-energy-selected-to-manage-gas-to-energy-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Siemens Energy Selected to Manage Gas-to-Energy Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><strong>By Kimberly Giddings<\/strong><br><strong>February 21, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Siemens Energy has been identified as the preferred company to manage and operate the power plant component of Guyana\u2019s Gas-to-Energy (GTE) project in Wales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This follows the government\u2019s Request for Proposals launched in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three companies\u2014Siemens Energy of Germany, CH4 Systems of Puerto Rico, and Ethos Energy of Texas, USA\u2014expressed interest in overseeing the operations of the project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During his presentation at the Guyana Energy Conference on Wednesday, GTE Project Lead Winston Brassington announced that Siemens Energy was selected based on its technical compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government is now in negotiations with Siemens Energy, with plans to finalize the contract within the next few months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, authorities are seeking subcontractors for the natural gas liquids (NGL) operations, with both agreements expected to be in place by mid-year to ensure a smooth transition between construction and operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GTE project is a major step in Guyana\u2019s energy development, positioning the country as a key supplier to the Caribbean and Latin America. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first phase aims to cut electricity costs by 50%, expand power capacity, and generate revenue from natural gas byproducts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The facility is being constructed by CH4 Lindsayca at a cost of <strong>US$759 million<\/strong>, with ExxonMobil completing the pipeline infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is further supported by a <strong>US$527 million<\/strong> loan from the US EXIM Bank and is expected to save Guyana over <strong>US$250 million<\/strong> annually.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Kimberly GiddingsFebruary 21, 2025 Siemens Energy has been identified as the preferred company to manage and operate the power plant component of Guyana\u2019s Gas-to-Energy (GTE) project in Wales.
