{"id":26899,"date":"2025-03-12T15:47:15","date_gmt":"2025-03-12T15:47:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=26899"},"modified":"2025-03-12T15:47:16","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T15:47:16","slug":"president-ali-outlines-measures-for-healthcare-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/president-ali-outlines-measures-for-healthcare-development\/","title":{"rendered":"President Ali Outlines Measures for Healthcare Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Kristin Josiah<\/em><br><em>February 13, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Dr. Irfaan Ali today outlined a series of initiatives aimed at developing Guyana&#8217;s healthcare system in 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the key measures is the establishment of a new Rehab Center to provide therapy for patients recovering from health conditions such as strokes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This announcement comes after a successful partnership between the Guyana government, Hess Corporation, and the Mount Sinai Health System. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three-year healthcare initiative, launched in July 2022, focuses on improving access to affordable, high-quality healthcare. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hess Corporation has contributed US$32 million, with the Guyana government contributing US$1.6 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 40 healthcare experts from Mount Sinai have since been deployed to Guyana as part of the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Ali revealed plans to offer world-class healthcare professionals at public health facilities across the country through telemedicine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also shared details about the construction of Guyana&#8217;s first oncology center in collaboration with Mount Sinai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the National Emergency Health Care system, including services at the Georgetown Public Hospital and regional hospitals, will undergo significant improvements this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The revamp is part of a scalable model to strengthen essential health services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new Rehab Center will cater to patients who have lost mobility due to conditions like strokes, providing comprehensive rehabilitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To further bolster the healthcare system, the government is constructing 12 new hospitals and training over 3,200 healthcare professionals to address the sector&#8217;s growing human resource needs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Kristin JosiahFebruary 13, 2025 President Dr. Irfaan Ali today outlined a series of initiatives aimed at developing Guyana&#8217;s healthcare system in 2025.
