{"id":26842,"date":"2025-03-11T17:28:51","date_gmt":"2025-03-11T17:28:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=26842"},"modified":"2025-03-11T17:28:52","modified_gmt":"2025-03-11T17:28:52","slug":"linden-town-week-2025-officially-launched-despite-internal-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/linden-town-week-2025-officially-launched-despite-internal-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"Linden Town Week 2025 Officially Launched Despite Internal Issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>February 11, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Social Development Committee of the Linden Town Council officially launched Linden Town Week 2025 on Sunday evening at the Linden Theme Park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The annual celebration, which will run from April 25 to May 6, will once again be held under the theme <em>&#8220;We are One People, One Nation, One Destiny, Linden the Heart of Guyana.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the ceremony, Mayor Sharma Solomon promised that this year\u2019s event would surpass previous editions, highlighting its growing significance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He revealed that the 2024 Linden Town Week generated GY$10.5 million over ten days and encouraged residents to participate by showcasing their businesses, products, food, and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founder of Linden Town Week, Norville Fredricks, emphasized the importance of incorporating more culture-based activities to foster a greater sense of pride in the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Regional Vice Chairman of Region 10, Mark Goring, reaffirmed the Regional Democratic Council\u2019s support for the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Region 10 Tourism Committee Chair Devin Sears noted a significant increase in accommodations for the festival, with available rooms rising from 200 last year to 318 this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the event has garnered backing from the Linden Chamber of Industry, Commerce, and Development, with its chair, Lindon Younge, stressing the economic benefits of the celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the launch was not without controversy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Linden Municipality issued a statement on Sunday morning disassociating itself from the event, citing a lack of involvement or approval in the decision to proceed with the launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite this, organizers remain optimistic that Linden Town Week 2025 will be a success, continuing its tradition of celebrating the town\u2019s rich culture, economic potential, and community spirit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 11, 2025 The Social Development Committee of the Linden Town Council officially launched Linden Town Week 2025 on Sunday evening at the Linden Theme Park.
