Lall with members Keoma D. Griffith and former Commissioner of Police, Seelall Persaud, uncovered a series of actions that demonstrated deliberate misconduct by Brutus.

The investigation revealed that Brutus abused his authority to coerce junior officers into breaching the Guyana Police Force’s Standing Orders and procurement regulations.

Despite the seriousness of the allegations, Brutus chose not to attend the hearings or send any representative.

Over 21 witnesses, including the Commissioner of Police, testified between January 22 and February 3, 2025.

The Tribunal confirmed that due process was followed during the investigation.

Among the findings, Brutus was found responsible for authorizing unlawful payments totaling over 114 million dollars from the Force’s budget and Welfare Fund.

These funds were directed to businesses with which Brutus had personal or indirect ties.

Notably, in January 2024, Brutus approved a payment of over 13.6 million dollars from the Welfare Fund to Triple ‘A’ Depot, a business registered under the name of his wife.

Additionally, in December 2023, he orchestrated the falsification of records for goods valued at over 101 million dollars, falsely indicating that they had been delivered when no such transaction had occurred.

The Tribunal concluded that Brutus’ actions amounted to coercion, financial misconduct, and a severe breach of public trust.

As a result, the Police Service Commission determined that his dismissal was in the best interest of the public.

Acting under its constitutional authority, the Commission issued a formal dismissal letter on February 5, 2025, removing Brutus from the Police Force with immediate effect.

By Nakasia LoganFebruary 6, 2025 The Police Service Commission has dismissed Assistant Commissioner of Police, Calvin Brutus, from the Guyana Police Force following the conclusion of a Tribunal that investigated…

[350

post-26712","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
["GET
