{"id":26654,"date":"2025-02-20T15:59:15","date_gmt":"2025-02-20T15:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=26654"},"modified":"2025-02-20T15:59:16","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T15:59:16","slug":"president-ali-emphasizes-transparency-in-housing-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/president-ali-emphasizes-transparency-in-housing-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"President Ali Emphasizes Transparency in Housing Sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Celestine Chacon<\/em>| February 4, 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Irfaan Ali has reaffirmed his administration&#8217;s commitment to transparency and fairness in Guyana\u2019s housing sector, emphasizing the strict regulations in place to prevent any misconduct in land allocations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a live broadcast on Monday evening, Dr. Ali addressed the operations of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&amp;PA), stressing the government\u2019s dedication to openness across all sectors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He clarified that less than 10 percent of total land allocations over the past four years had gone to private developers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The president explained that these developers must go through a structured process, including an open expression of interest, and sign agreements that ensure compliance with strict conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cNone of these developers would have title until all of these conditions are satisfied\u2026 if the infrastructural works are not substantially completed within 18 months, CH&amp;PA shall be under no obligation to accept the balance of the purchase price and convey title to the purchaser, and may at this point terminate the agreement,\u201d<\/strong> Dr. Ali stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He contrasted his administration\u2019s approach with that of the previous government, asserting that under the PPP\/C, all agreements with private developers are transparent and just.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflecting on the sector\u2019s progress, the president highlighted significant investments made between 2004 and 2014, noting substantial increases in housing stock across all regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cIn every single region\u2014Region Ten saw a 37 percent increase in housing stock, Region Three 66 percent.
