{"id":26634,"date":"2025-02-20T15:25:23","date_gmt":"2025-02-20T15:25:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=26634"},"modified":"2025-02-20T15:25:25","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T15:25:25","slug":"four-killed-in-separate-road-accidents-traffic-chief-urges-caution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/four-killed-in-separate-road-accidents-traffic-chief-urges-caution\/","title":{"rendered":"Four Killed in Separate Road Accidents, Traffic Chief Urges Caution"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>February 3, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Four young men lost their lives in three separate road accidents over the weekend, with authorities attributing all incidents to high speeds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The accidents, which occurred on Sunday, February 2, across the West Coast and East Bank of Demerara, have raised concerns about reckless driving and road safety enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first incident took place at approximately 6:30 PM at Timehri Base Road, where 25-year-old Suresh Singh lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a truck. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Singh was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few hours later, at around 9:07 PM, 18-year-old motorcyclist Finidy Miggins was involved in a head-on collision with a motorcar on Den Amstel Public Road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Miggins sustained fatal injuries and did not survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final accident occurred at approximately 11:00 PM on the Land of Canaan Public Road, East Bank Demerara. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The crash resulted in the deaths of 22-year-old Ronaldo Gordon and 23-year-old Joel Sutherland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following these incidents, the Traffic Department emphasized that all three accidents were preventable and reiterated the need for motorists to exercise caution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials noted that excessive speed was a common factor in each case and stressed the importance of adhering to road safety measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities have confirmed that efforts to strengthen road safety enforcement will continue, with increased monitoring and awareness campaigns aimed at reducing reckless driving and preventing further loss of life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 3, 2025 Four young men lost their lives in three separate road accidents over the weekend, with authorities attributing all incidents to high speeds.
