{"id":26553,"date":"2025-02-09T03:50:34","date_gmt":"2025-02-09T03:50:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=26553"},"modified":"2025-02-09T03:50:35","modified_gmt":"2025-02-09T03:50:35","slug":"phase-two-of-carifesta-road-widening-project-commences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/phase-two-of-carifesta-road-widening-project-commences\/","title":{"rendered":"Phase Two of Carifesta Road Widening Project Commences"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Delicia Janneire | January 28, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phase two of the Carifesta roadworks has officially begun on the southern carriageway, marking a significant step forward in the ongoing road improvement efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is being executed by Quality Deliverer, with an investment of 1.4 billion dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This phase involves both drainage and road widening works, extending from the roundabout at Kitty to Camp Street, and is expected to be completed over the course of 14 months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a stakeholder engagement, Project Engineer from the Ministry of Public Works, Kester Hinds, outlined the scope of works for the project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main objective is to expand the road to four lanes, which will include two driving lanes on the southern side, as well as a parking lane and a cycle lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, challenges remain, particularly the preservation of the trees in the national park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hinds assured that measures will be implemented to avoid compromising the structure of these trees during construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister of Public Works, Hon.
