{"id":26483,"date":"2025-02-09T02:48:38","date_gmt":"2025-02-09T02:48:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=26483"},"modified":"2025-02-09T02:48:39","modified_gmt":"2025-02-09T02:48:39","slug":"vreed-en-hoop-shore-base-expansion-to-boost-local-economy-and-supply-chain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/vreed-en-hoop-shore-base-expansion-to-boost-local-economy-and-supply-chain\/","title":{"rendered":"Vreed-en-Hoop Shore Base Expansion to Boost Local Economy and Supply Chain"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Saskia Warrick | January 21, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vreed-en-Hoop Shore Base is undergoing a significant expansion, increasing its size from 44 acres to 70 acres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This development will enhance ExxonMobil&#8217;s supply chain and open up new commercial shipping opportunities, providing benefits to the Guyanese people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Construction of the shore base began in April 2022, with sections becoming operational in July 2024, and the final handover completed in December 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The base serves as a Subsea Umbilicals, Risers, and Flowlines (SURF) hub, where critical offshore equipment for ExxonMobil is stored and assembled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer, Director of VEHSI, highlighted that the expansion reduces the reliance on foreign facilities, bringing a significant portion of ExxonMobil&#8217;s value chain closer to Guyana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond its oil and gas role, VEHSI&#8217;s expansion plans aim to establish commercial shipping capabilities, which will open the port to non-oil-related trade, benefiting local businesses and creating more opportunities for the wider Guyanese population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the expansion progresses, VEHSI is poised to play a transformative role in Guyana\u2019s economic growth, offering opportunities for local companies, including those outside of ExxonMobil&#8217;s immediate supply chain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Saskia Warrick | January 21, 2025 The Vreed-en-Hoop Shore Base is undergoing a significant expansion, increasing its size from 44 acres to 70 acres.
