{"id":26405,"date":"2025-02-09T00:54:14","date_gmt":"2025-02-09T00:54:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=26405"},"modified":"2025-02-09T00:54:15","modified_gmt":"2025-02-09T00:54:15","slug":"34-4-billion-allocated-to-strengthen-the-guyana-police-force-in-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/34-4-billion-allocated-to-strengthen-the-guyana-police-force-in-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"$34.4 Billion Allocated to Strengthen the Guyana Police Force in 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Kimberly Giddings, January 18, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has been allocated $34.4 billion in the 2025 national budget to enhance its operations, infrastructure, and resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was announced by Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance and Public Service, Dr. Ashni Singh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the government\u2019s return to office in 2020, numerous projects have been undertaken to upgrade the Force\u2019s infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These include the construction, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of 23 police stations and 14 key buildings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, five command operation centers, five divisional headquarters, four IT training complexes, and five living quarters have been built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To further advance these efforts, $4.7 billion has been allocated for infrastructural works in 2025, following a $5.2 billion investment in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A major project in this year\u2019s budget is the development of a modern police training campus along the Linden-Soesdyke Highway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of $597 million has been designated to advance works on this facility, along with the completion of the Division 6 Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters and the Tactical Services Unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to infrastructure, $2 billion has been allocated to expand the GPF\u2019s transport fleet, ensuring officers are better equipped to respond to security needs across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These investments aim to modernize the GPF, strengthen law enforcement capabilities, and enhance public safety in Guyana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Kimberly Giddings, January 18, 2025 The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has been allocated $34.4 billion in the 2025 national budget to enhance its operations, infrastructure, and resources.
