{"id":26078,"date":"2025-02-01T22:09:17","date_gmt":"2025-02-01T22:09:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=26078"},"modified":"2025-02-01T22:09:18","modified_gmt":"2025-02-01T22:09:18","slug":"maternal-and-neonatal-deaths-decline-at-gphc-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/maternal-and-neonatal-deaths-decline-at-gphc-in-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Maternal and Neonatal Deaths Decline at GPHC in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>December 31, 2024<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) has reported a significant reduction in both maternal and neonatal deaths for the year 2024, compared to previous years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CEO of GPHC, Robbie Rambarran, revealed that maternal deaths have decreased from 10 in 2023 to eight in 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, neonatal deaths dropped substantially from 83 to 41 over the same period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These figures represent the lowest recorded rates of maternal and neonatal deaths at GPHC to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rambarran expressed his satisfaction with the progress, emphasizing the hospital&#8217;s commitment to improving maternal healthcare quality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that these improvements were a result of a concerted effort by the hospital staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Dr. Radha Sookraj, highlighted the success of the hospital\u2019s interventions, noting that 79 women were saved from life-threatening complications this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She attributed this achievement to the dedicated healthcare team, including nurses and doctors, and the enhanced healthcare services provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two major advancements in maternal services at GPHC in 2024 included the establishment of a dedicated Maternal Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the opening of a satellite pharmacy on the hospital\u2019s main floor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These initiatives are expected to continue to improve the care and outcomes for women and neonates at GPHC in the coming years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 31, 2024 The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) has reported a significant reduction in both maternal and neonatal deaths for the year 2024, compared to previous years.
