{"id":25984,"date":"2025-02-01T19:55:13","date_gmt":"2025-02-01T19:55:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=25984"},"modified":"2025-02-01T19:55:14","modified_gmt":"2025-02-01T19:55:14","slug":"fernandes-and-khalil-triumph-at-one-guyana-presidents-cup-squash-tournament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/fernandes-and-khalil-triumph-at-one-guyana-presidents-cup-squash-tournament\/","title":{"rendered":"Fernandes and Khalil Triumph at One Guyana President\u2019s Cup Squash Tournament"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Tyriq Walters<\/em><br><em>December 23, 2024<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The One Guyana President\u2019s Cup Squash tournament wrapped up over the weekend at the National Racquet Centre, Woolford Avenue, with Nicollette Fernandes and Jason-Ray Khalil claiming victories in the women\u2019s and men\u2019s events, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Women\u2019s final, Fernandes dominated the match, defeating Mary Fung-a-Fat with ease in straight sets: 11-5, 11-7, 11-1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Men\u2019s final, Khalil faced a tough challenge from Shomari Wiltshire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After dropping the first game 8-11, Khalil fought back to win the next three games, securing the title with a 11-6, 11-7, 13-11 scoreline, marking his second Men\u2019s singles title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the junior categories, 9-year-old Zion Hickerson claimed the Boys&#8217; U15 title, while Emily Fung-a-Fat impressed with victories in both the Girls&#8217; U15 and U19 divisions.
