{"id":25690,"date":"2025-01-20T17:24:19","date_gmt":"2025-01-20T17:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=25690"},"modified":"2025-01-20T17:24:20","modified_gmt":"2025-01-20T17:24:20","slug":"public-servants-welcome-salary-increase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/public-servants-welcome-salary-increase\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Servants Welcome Salary Increase"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Celestine Chacon<\/em><br><em>December 11, 2024<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Public servants have expressed strong approval of the salary increase announced by President Irfaan Ali, which will take effect from January 1st, 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 10% increase will be retroactive, with an additional 8% planned for 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The increase is part of a broader set of measures aimed at alleviating the financial strain on Guyanese families, including a one-hundred-thousand-dollar cash grant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Public sector employees have lauded the move, recognizing its positive impact on their finances and the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eyon Boyal, a public servant, expressed his gratitude, stating, <em>\u201cIt will benefit not only us the public servants but the entire Guyana in general. It will ease and cushion the impacts&#8230; the Christmas spending and benefit all families.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>S. Browne, a mother and public servant, added, <em>\u201cFor me especially, as a mom, I think this is additional to your salary. It\u2019s going to contribute to your home, and with the increase in prices, it\u2019s going to help with extra spending.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quincy Lacon saw the increase as a positive development, saying, <em>\u201cI think it\u2019s a plus for public servants, it\u2019s a plus for myself, and I\u2019m quite sure it will go a long way.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christopher Sookdeo, another public servant, reflected on the long-awaited raise: <em>\u201cPublic servants have been looking forward to that for a very long time. Since he announced it, I think it has made our lives better.
