As part of the International Men\u2019s Day observance, the Ministry of Health and Men on Mission (MOM) hosted a prostate cancer and health screening event aimed at encouraging men, particularly those over 45, to prioritize their health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative took place at Camp Ayanganna in Georgetown and was extended to regional hospitals across Guyana, ensuring widespread access to life-saving health checks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The screening included blood pressure and blood sugar tests, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood tests, and consultations with doctors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prostate cancer has been identified as one of the leading causes of death among men in Guyana, highlighting the urgency of early detection and preventive care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brigadier Omar Khan, Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force and Chairman of the Men on Mission Committee, stressed the importance of regular health evaluations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that understanding one\u2019s health status not only promotes longevity but also enhances productivity among men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lieutenant Colonel Bhageshwar Murli, MOM Coordinator, emphasized the accessibility of the initiative, which was replicated in all administrative regions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program\u2019s reach ensured that men in remote areas also had the opportunity to participate in these vital health screenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Sawan Jagnarain, Coordinator of the Ministry of Health\u2019s Men\u2019s Health Unit and MOM executive member, outlined key risk factors for prostate cancer, including smoking, obesity, advanced age, and family history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He encouraged men to take precautionary measures to mitigate these risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was held under the theme \u201cMen\u2019s Health Champions, Champions for Prostate Health.\u201d<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It underscored the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Health and Men on Mission to address men\u2019s health issues and promote awareness about prostate cancer prevention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative is part of a broader commitment to improving health outcomes for men across Guyana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
