In a collaborative effort to enhance road safety awareness, the Guyana National Road Safety Council (GNRSC) has joined forces with the Ministry of Education to introduce road safety manuals for teachers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These resources will enable educators to incorporate road safety scenarios into various subjects taught in classrooms across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volika Jaikishun, a representative of the Ministry of Education and member of the GNRSC, highlighted the initiative during a recent episode of the \u201cRoad Safety\u201d program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen teaching social studies, English, science, mathematics, and other subjects, we\u2019re integrating road safety scenarios and examples,\u201d Jaikishun explained. \u201cWe hope that children can relate to these examples in their everyday situations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Region Five has already implemented the program, as noted by Inspector Shawn Massay, the region’s Traffic Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRegion Five has been fortunate to receive training for teachers in partnership with members of the traffic department,\u201d Massay said. \u201cThese initiatives aim to reduce accidents and accident-related incidents in our region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The broader goal of this initiative is to foster a culture of road safety among younger generations, equipping them with the knowledge and habits to make safe choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
