Pauline Sukhai, during her recent visit to the Potaro-Siparuni region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The road upgrades are set to begin soon and will complement other ongoing development efforts in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Sukhai, who is also responsible for parliamentary affairs in the region, highlighted that road maintenance contracts for Sub Districts 1 and 2 are already in the pipeline, with disbursement expected shortly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These efforts are part of the government\u2019s larger vision to enhance connectivity and accessibility in the hinterland region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the road improvements, Minister of Housing and Water, Hon. Collin Croal, announced a significant development in water accessibility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020, potable water access in Region 8 stood at 55%, but with an investment of over $650 million over four years, the government aims to provide 95% of the region with access to clean water by the end of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both ministers reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to the continued development and improvement of the living conditions in Region 8, ensuring better infrastructure and essential services for its residents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Celestine ChaconNovember 1, 2024 Mahdia, Region 8, will soon see significant improvements in infrastructure with a major $300 million road upgrade initiative.
