{"id":23886,"date":"2024-11-07T13:16:10","date_gmt":"2024-11-07T13:16:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=23886"},"modified":"2024-11-07T13:16:10","modified_gmt":"2024-11-07T13:16:10","slug":"ituni-village-receives-bus-a-promise-fulfilled-by-the-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/ituni-village-receives-bus-a-promise-fulfilled-by-the-president\/","title":{"rendered":"Ituni Village Receives Bus &#8211; A Promise Fulfilled by the President"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>October 14, 2024<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ituni community in Region Ten has received a major boost to its transportation infrastructure with the donation of a 30-seater Toyota RUSO bus, valued at $17.2 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This donation fulfills a promise made by President Dr. Irfaan Ali during his earlier visit to Linden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bus, requested by the villagers during the President\u2019s visit, was handed over by the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, which has a mandate to support rural, Amerindian, and riverine communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ryan Toolsiram, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, emphasized the government\u2019s commitment to providing support for schoolchildren, women, and youth in these communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keisha Griffith-McCain, District Development Officer for Region 10, expressed relief on behalf of parents in Ituni. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, students had to travel to Linden for secondary school, a costly and burdensome process.
