{"id":23392,"date":"2024-10-08T14:03:40","date_gmt":"2024-10-08T14:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=23392"},"modified":"2024-10-08T14:03:41","modified_gmt":"2024-10-08T14:03:41","slug":"62-residents-in-region-five-receive-steel-and-cement-subsidy-vouchers-for-home-construction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/62-residents-in-region-five-receive-steel-and-cement-subsidy-vouchers-for-home-construction\/","title":{"rendered":"62 Residents in Region Five Receive Steel and Cement Subsidy Vouchers for Home Construction"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Nakasia Logan | September 25, 2024<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a significant boost to home construction efforts, sixty-two residents from Region Five were issued Steel and Cement Subsidy vouchers, each valued at $225,000. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The distribution was led by Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues, at the Regional Housing Office in Fort Wellington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Rodrigues, who is conducting outreach in Region Five, emphasized the importance of helping individuals transition from landownership to homeownership. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She highlighted the initiative launched by President Ali two years ago at the International Building Expo, which aims to alleviate financial challenges faced by landowners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis subsidy is designed to assist those who need to begin their construction. We are also working with banks to ensure that interest rates remain low,\u201d Minister Rodrigues stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The steel and cement subsidy specifically targets landowners who have the property but encounter difficulties in starting the construction of their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subsidy recipients expressed their gratitude for the assistance. Ganesh Dhanpat, a beneficiary, noted, \u201cI\u2019m certain it will go a great deal for them because most people working in the sugar industry and the government will find a voucher like this very helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shelita Bissoon added, \u201cI feel happy and proud because I am getting my own home now. I\u2019m excited about it.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another recipient, Deochand Singh, echoed these sentiments, saying, \u201cI feel very happy.
