{"id":23201,"date":"2024-09-23T20:38:38","date_gmt":"2024-09-23T20:38:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=23201"},"modified":"2024-09-23T20:38:39","modified_gmt":"2024-09-23T20:38:39","slug":"2nd-annual-mayors-cup-basketball-to-bounce-off-in-linden-on-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/2nd-annual-mayors-cup-basketball-to-bounce-off-in-linden-on-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"2nd Annual Mayor\u2019s Cup Basketball to Bounce Off in Linden on Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>The Department of Education in Region 10 is gearing up to host the second annual Mayor\u2019s Cup basketball tournament as part of Education Month activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Under-15 tournament will see seven secondary schools from the region compete for cash prizes and trophies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event kicks off on Saturday, September 21, and will run until Friday, October 11, with games being held at the Mackenzie High and Amelia\u2019s Ward Hard Courts in Linden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acting Regional Education Officer, Dawn McCammon Barker, is coordinating the tournament, emphasizing the core values of teamwork and community participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating schools include New Silvercity Secondary, Christianburg Wismar Secondary, Wisburg Secondary, Harmony Secondary, Mackenzie High, Linden Foundation Secondary, and Kwakwani Secondary School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the focus is on Under-15 players, contrasting with last year\u2019s Under-21 format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tournament will be divided into two groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Group A<\/strong>: Mackenzie High School (MHS), Wisburg Secondary, New Silvercity Secondary (NSS), and Linden Foundation Secondary (LFS).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Group B<\/strong>: Kwakwani Secondary, Harmony Secondary, and Christianburg Wismar Secondary School (CWSS).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The opening match will feature Mackenzie High School against Linden Foundation Secondary at 14:30, followed by Wisburg facing off against New Silvercity Secondary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional games will include MHS vs. Wisburg and Kwakwani vs. Multi to round off the day\u2019s action.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Education in Region 10 is gearing up to host the second annual Mayor\u2019s Cup basketball tournament as part of Education Month activities.
