{"id":23058,"date":"2024-09-18T20:17:45","date_gmt":"2024-09-18T20:17:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=23058"},"modified":"2024-09-18T20:18:42","modified_gmt":"2024-09-18T20:18:42","slug":"bit-to-expand-training-programmes-introduce-innovative-approaches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/bit-to-expand-training-programmes-introduce-innovative-approaches\/","title":{"rendered":"BIT to Expand Training Programmes, Introduce Innovative Approaches"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>The Board of Industrial Training (BIT), under the Ministry of Labour, is set to broaden its programme offerings as part of a comprehensive upgrade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with NCN&#8217;s Nakasia Logan, Labour Minister Joseph Hamilton revealed that BIT aims to launch new programmes with a focus on creativity and innovation, enhancing the skill sets needed for modern construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hamilton shared that the ministry is currently discussing the introduction of a unique building construction programme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This holistic programme will teach trainees how to install various building systems, such as electrical and plumbing, with modern techniques that differ from traditional construction methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BIT is also exploring the fusion of woodworking and welding in a pilot programme to be introduced at the Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative will combine these two trades to reflect the latest trends in furniture making, which now often merges steel and wood materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the PPP\/C administration took office in 2020, almost 12,000 individuals have received training through BIT in a range of skilled areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This expansion underscores the government\u2019s dedication to developing a skilled and innovative workforce through practical and community-focused training solutions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Board of Industrial Training (BIT), under the Ministry of Labour, is set to broaden its programme offerings as part of a comprehensive upgrade.
