{"id":22705,"date":"2024-09-09T13:12:55","date_gmt":"2024-09-09T13:12:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=22705"},"modified":"2024-09-09T13:13:29","modified_gmt":"2024-09-09T13:13:29","slug":"guyana-advances-in-telemedicine-with-new-initiatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/guyana-advances-in-telemedicine-with-new-initiatives\/","title":{"rendered":"Guyana Advances in Telemedicine with New Initiatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Saskia Warrick<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guyana is establishing itself as a frontrunner in telemedicine, bolstered by substantial government investments aimed at expanding healthcare access in remote regions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2022, the government has been equipping hinterland telemedicine centers with advanced technology to enhance healthcare delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative includes the deployment of digital stethoscopes, pulse oximeters, infrared thermometers, blood pressure monitors, mobile ultrasounds, and examination cameras. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These tools provide Community Health Workers with 24-hour access to medical specialists at the Georgetown Public Hospital, facilitating faster diagnoses and improving overall healthcare services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the existing telemedicine infrastructure, President Irfaan Ali has announced the addition of 25 new telemedicine sites across various hinterland communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This expansion aims to further support and improve healthcare accessibility in remote areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first four telemedicine sites were established in Gunns Village, Nappi, Yupukari, and Parikawarinau. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These advancements are part of the government&#8217;s broader effort to bridge healthcare gaps and ensure better medical support for all Guyanese, particularly those in underserved regions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Saskia Warrick Guyana is establishing itself as a frontrunner in telemedicine, bolstered by substantial government investments aimed at expanding healthcare access in remote regions.
