{"id":22360,"date":"2024-09-04T22:31:18","date_gmt":"2024-09-04T22:31:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=22360"},"modified":"2024-09-04T22:31:33","modified_gmt":"2024-09-04T22:31:33","slug":"amerindian-communities-encouraged-to-form-clusters-for-contract-bidding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/amerindian-communities-encouraged-to-form-clusters-for-contract-bidding\/","title":{"rendered":"Amerindian Communities Encouraged to Form Clusters for Contract Bidding"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Delicia Janneire<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amerindian communities are being urged to form cluster groups to bid for contracts within their regions, a move supported by the Government of Guyana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Public Works Minister Juan Edghill emphasized the government&#8217;s commitment to this initiative, provided that the work produced meets the required quality standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea was initially proposed by Toshao of Shulinab, Nicholas Fredericks, during the fourth day of the National Toshaos\u2019 Conference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fredericks suggested that the communities&#8217; intimate knowledge of the terrain could complement the work of engineers from the Ministry of Public Works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Edghill, in response, stated that Amerindian communities are welcome to form companies and bid for contracts like other entities, within the framework of the Procurement Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo also supported this approach, emphasizing the potential for local solutions and encouraging communities to handle projects directly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Dr. Irfaan Ali, during a recent outreach in Region 8, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of involving residents in labor and material sourcing for projects in their villages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Delicia Janneire Amerindian communities are being urged to form cluster groups to bid for contracts within their regions, a move supported by the Government of Guyana.
