{"id":22072,"date":"2024-09-03T18:56:50","date_gmt":"2024-09-03T18:56:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=22072"},"modified":"2024-09-03T18:56:52","modified_gmt":"2024-09-03T18:56:52","slug":"goa-develops-strategic-plan-for-2024-2032-olympic-cycles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/goa-develops-strategic-plan-for-2024-2032-olympic-cycles\/","title":{"rendered":"GOA Develops Strategic Plan for 2024-2032 Olympic Cycles"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><em>By Delicia Janneire<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) has initiated the process of developing a Strategic and Operational Plan for the period 2024 to 2032. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plan aims to outline a roadmap for the organization over the next two Olympic cycles, with a focus on enhancing support for athletes, national associations, and federations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GOA President, Godfrey Munroe, highlighted that the plan will provide the framework for improving leadership, decision-making, and administrative capacities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also designed to help the association reset its strategy following the Paris 2024 Olympics, ensuring it maximizes performance efficiency in future competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative is being supported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through Olympic Solidarity, which has provided funding for the project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GOA has recruited consultant Laurent Torrecillas, a strategic planning expert with experience working with National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and international sporting organizations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He will work with key stakeholders to conduct a SWOT analysis of national governing bodies to help shape the strategic vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guyana has a long history of Olympic participation and aims to improve its performance in future games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most notable achievement remains Michael Paris\u2019 bronze medal in boxing at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite sending a delegation of five athletes to the Paris 2024 Olympics, none advanced beyond the first round in their respective events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new plan is expected to play a critical role in strengthening the support systems for Guyana\u2019s athletes and optimizing their performances on the international stage as the country looks ahead to future Olympic competitions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Delicia Janneire The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) has initiated the process of developing a Strategic and Operational Plan for the period 2024 to 2032.
