{"id":21757,"date":"2024-08-27T19:43:33","date_gmt":"2024-08-27T19:43:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=21757"},"modified":"2024-08-27T19:43:36","modified_gmt":"2024-08-27T19:43:36","slug":"victoria-village-unveils-historic-emancipation-arch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/victoria-village-unveils-historic-emancipation-arch\/","title":{"rendered":"Victoria Village Unveils Historic Emancipation Arch"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By <strong>Samuel Gillis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a special Emancipation Day ceremony, Victoria village celebrated its 185-year history with the unveiling of a new arch, symbolizing the community&#8217;s progress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The arch, a collaborative effort between the village and the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports, was completed at a cost of over two million dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ken Semple from the Victoria Emancipation Anniversary Planning Committee highlighted the extensive fundraising efforts and expressed gratitude to Minister Ramson and the Ministry for their financial support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The arch was designed by Andrew Dosantos and 14-year-old Kayden Meusa, whose design won a competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kayden Meusa shared his inspiration for the design, which draws on Victoria&#8217;s rich history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The arch, which now brightens the village, was celebrated by locals, including Andre Wilson and Rochelle Vackerie, who expressed their pride and excitement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony was attended by Minister of Legal Affairs Anil Nandlall and Minister of Health Dr. Frank Anthony, who delivered the keynote address. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Anthony emphasized the importance of using historical sacrifices to advance the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The celebrations will continue with a bonfire, steel pan performances, a candlelight march, and a talent show on Murphy&#8217;s Lawn in Victoria on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Samuel Gillis In a special Emancipation Day ceremony, Victoria village celebrated its 185-year history with the unveiling of a new arch, symbolizing the community&#8217;s progress.
