{"id":21747,"date":"2024-08-27T19:34:18","date_gmt":"2024-08-27T19:34:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=21747"},"modified":"2024-08-27T19:34:22","modified_gmt":"2024-08-27T19:34:22","slug":"new-23m-water-supply-system-benefits-over-100-households","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/new-23m-water-supply-system-benefits-over-100-households\/","title":{"rendered":"New $23M Water Supply System Benefits Over 100 Households"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By <strong>Fabiana Mcklmon<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 100 households in Waramuri and Para, Region One, are now receiving clean and safe water following the launch of a $23 million water supply system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The commissioning ceremony took place earlier this week in the Moruca sub-district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the ceremony, it was revealed that the project faced challenges, with four unsuccessful drilling attempts before a successful well was achieved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government eventually decided to drill a well at Para, installing a pump and distribution system to ensure access to water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Collin Croal, the Minister of Housing and Water, emphasized that the government\u2019s goal is to ensure universal access to clean water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that six wells have been completed in the Moruca sub-region this year, with plans to complete an additional 12 wells by year-end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Croal highlighted that Region One currently has about 83% water coverage, with a target of reaching close to 90% by the end of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents expressed their gratitude for the new system. Lenita Henry from Waramuri noted that previously, the community relied on drying ponds, and the new well has been a significant improvement.
