{"id":21647,"date":"2024-08-08T00:36:55","date_gmt":"2024-08-08T00:36:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=21647"},"modified":"2024-08-08T00:36:57","modified_gmt":"2024-08-08T00:36:57","slug":"african-organizations-receive-grants-to-support-emancipation-celebrations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/african-organizations-receive-grants-to-support-emancipation-celebrations\/","title":{"rendered":"African Organizations Receive Grants to Support Emancipation Celebrations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>On July 26, several African organizations across the country received government grants at a ceremony held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grants are intended to support the preservation and celebration of African culture in the lead-up to the Emancipation celebrations on August 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emerson Benjamin, one of the beneficiaries, expressed his appreciation for the support, noting that the grant is essential for enhancing the success and impact of their cultural activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without such sponsorship, he explained, achieving their desired level of success would be challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tasia Allen, another recipient, highlighted the importance of the grant in covering some of the expenses associated with their cultural events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She pointed out that, typically, they have to raise funds independently, and the grant helps alleviate some of those financial burdens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acting Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports, Kwame McCoy, reaffirmed the government&#8217;s commitment to supporting the Afro-Guyanese community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized that the government remains steadfast in its support, underscoring its dedication to aiding cultural and community initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grants will facilitate a variety of activities including recreational, educational, and entertainment events, all designed to enrich the Emancipation celebrations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On July 26, several African organizations across the country received government grants at a ceremony held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.
