{"id":21495,"date":"2024-07-27T01:38:57","date_gmt":"2024-07-27T01:38:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=21495"},"modified":"2024-07-27T01:39:16","modified_gmt":"2024-07-27T01:39:16","slug":"emergency-repairs-begin-at-vriesland-after-road-damage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/emergency-repairs-begin-at-vriesland-after-road-damage\/","title":{"rendered":"Emergency Repairs Begin at Vriesland After Road Damage"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>Emergency repair work has started at Vriesland, West Bank Demerara, following significant road damage caused by heavy-laden trucks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The intervention by government officials aims to address concerns raised by local residents about the deteriorating condition of their roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, Ministers of Public Works Juan Edghill and Deodat Indar, along with Minister of Housing and Water Collin Croal, met with contractors involved in the Gas-to-Energy and CH&amp;PA projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting was a response to protests from Vriesland residents who had expressed frustration over the road&#8217;s condition and the impact of truck operations on their daily lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministers emphasized that the residents&#8217; concerns must be addressed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was agreed that the CH&amp;PA operators would bear the costs for the road&#8217;s maintenance to ensure it remains passable for vehicles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the Ministry of Public Works will develop a design for the full reconstruction of approximately one kilometer of the road, which was not originally constructed to support heavy-duty traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To further mitigate the issue, a speed limit will be imposed on truck drivers to reduce the inconvenience caused to local residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Juan Edghill assured the community that the government will not tolerate irresponsible use of roads or disrespect from contractors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Emergency repair work has started at Vriesland, West Bank Demerara, following significant road damage caused by heavy-laden trucks.
