{"id":21442,"date":"2024-07-27T00:42:47","date_gmt":"2024-07-27T00:42:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=21442"},"modified":"2024-07-27T00:44:03","modified_gmt":"2024-07-27T00:44:03","slug":"west-coast-berbice-four-lane-expansion-to-begin-in-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/west-coast-berbice-four-lane-expansion-to-begin-in-august\/","title":{"rendered":"West Coast Berbice Four-Lane Expansion to Begin in August"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Delicia Janneire<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Public Works Minister Juan Edghill recently met with members of the Berbice Chamber of Commerce to provide updates on the upcoming projects slated for the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The major highlight of the meeting was the announcement that work on expanding the West Coast Berbice corridor into a four-lane road is set to commence in mid-August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This significant infrastructure project follows two years of consultations and surveying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Edghill revealed that the contract for the expansion has been awarded to an Indian company. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is divided into three segments, with the Indian company responsible for two of these segments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first segment extends from the Canje Bridge to Johns, the second from Bloomfield to #54, and the third segment covers from #55 to Moleson Creek. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The details for the final segment&#8217;s development are yet to be finalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concerns were raised by the Chambers regarding space constraints for the expansion in Rose Hall and Corriverton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response, Minister Edghill assured that solutions have been developed to address these &#8216;choke points,&#8217; including the addition of bypass roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The expansion is part of a broader effort to accommodate the increasing commercial and industrial traffic using the West Coast Berbice corridor for trade and business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Edghill also promised continued engagement with the chambers to ensure that community consultations are effectively carried out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Delicia Janneire Public Works Minister Juan Edghill recently met with members of the Berbice Chamber of Commerce to provide updates on the upcoming projects slated for the region.
