{"id":20875,"date":"2024-06-27T14:15:26","date_gmt":"2024-06-27T14:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=20875"},"modified":"2024-06-27T14:16:00","modified_gmt":"2024-06-27T14:16:00","slug":"cjia-expands-commercial-centre-to-enhance-passenger-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/cjia-expands-commercial-centre-to-enhance-passenger-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"CJIA Expands Commercial Centre to Enhance Passenger Experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><strong>By Delicia Janneire<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) is set to significantly enhance its passenger experience with the construction of a new commercial centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative aims to offer a wider variety of services to in-transit passengers, including new duty-free shops, additional food concession areas, bars, and a dedicated play area for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CJIA&#8217;s Chief Executive Officer, Ramesh Ghir, shared insights on the development, emphasizing the airport\u2019s commitment to catering to the diverse needs of passengers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The expanded commercial centre will feature a range of duty-free concessions, including confectionery and fast food outlets, ensuring a comprehensive service for all travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Businesses interested in operating within the new commercial centre are invited to submit their applications to CJIA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ghir outlined the process for application, encouraging businesses to outline their experience and proposed services in their submissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Public Works Minister Juan Edghill highlighted the necessity for businesses to comply with stringent airport security protocols. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stressed that operating at the airport requires adherence to high standards and specific security clearances, distinguishing CJIA from other marketplaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Efforts are also underway by the Ministries of Tourism and Public Works to provide opportunities for small vendors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The departure entrance of CJIA has been earmarked to accommodate small businesses selling local products such as pepper sauce, achar, and craft items. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This area will not be duty-free but will offer passengers the chance to purchase unique local goods to take with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These upgrades at Cheddi Jagan International Airport are part of broader efforts to ensure the facility meets world-class standards as Guyana continues to develop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The enhancements are also aimed at promoting Guyana as a prime destination and establishing the country as a regional transit hub, particularly for Latin America.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Delicia Janneire The Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) is set to significantly enhance its passenger experience with the construction of a new commercial centre.
