{"id":20601,"date":"2024-06-18T15:42:03","date_gmt":"2024-06-18T15:42:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=20601"},"modified":"2024-06-18T15:42:36","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T15:42:36","slug":"silica-city-advances-with-housing-construction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/silica-city-advances-with-housing-construction\/","title":{"rendered":"Silica City Advances with Housing Construction"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><strong>By Nakasia Logan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Silica City, a visionary urban development project situated along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, is making significant strides towards becoming Guyana\u2019s pioneering \u2018smart\u2019 urban center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, announced that construction of the initial phase of over seventy houses is well underway, marking a crucial step in the project\u2019s implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a recent outreach event at Base Road Timehri, Minister Croal provided updates on the development, emphasizing the collaborative efforts between his ministry and Miami University in formulating a comprehensive master plan for Silica City. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This master plan is set to be unveiled at the upcoming International Building Exposition scheduled from August 8th to 11th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the progress, challenges remain regarding informal settlers occupying certain areas along the highway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Croal acknowledged these complexities, highlighting ongoing efforts to regularize some settlements while preparing for a large-scale relocation program for others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sherwyn Greaves, CEO of the Central Housing and Planning Authority, underscored Silica City\u2019s broader significance beyond its physical infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the launch of the Building Expo themed &#8220;Building on the Foundation of Sustainability and Unity,&#8221; Greaves positioned Silica City as a model for sustainable urban living. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized the city\u2019s state-of-the-art infrastructure and energy-saving technologies, setting a new standard for modern urban development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Silica City, conceptualized under the leadership of President Irfaan Ali, aims not only to enhance residential living but also to pioneer environmental sustainability and community resilience in urban planning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Nakasia Logan Silica City, a visionary urban development project situated along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, is making significant strides towards becoming Guyana\u2019s pioneering \u2018smart\u2019 urban center.
