After enduring over six years of hardship, Denise Lampkin, a 50-year-old single mother from Wall Street, Amelia\u2019s Ward, now has a new, comfortable home thanks to the Men on Mission (MOM) initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lampkin\u2019s journey to her new home began in December 2017 when her family house was destroyed by a fire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the aftermath, she struggled to make ends meet and had to build a small shack for herself and her son, who has a physical disability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite her efforts, their living conditions remained dire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MOM initiative, led by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hugh Todd, learned of Lampkin\u2019s plight and stepped in to help. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, the group presented Lampkin with the keys to her new two-bedroom house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is a very special moment for you, in your life and your development, and we know all too well what homeownership means to anyone, any part of the world,” said Minister Todd during the handover. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized the government’s commitment, under President Ali’s leadership, to ensuring no one is left behind, particularly the most vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new home comes as a relief for Lampkin, who faced numerous challenges, including leaving her job in 2022 to care for her son. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, she and her son can enjoy a secure and comfortable living space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expressing her gratitude, Lampkin said, “I feel good when they say they coming and build and when I see the materials I started thanking God for the things he has brought me through.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Men on Mission initiative, launched by President Dr. Irfaan Ali in October 2022, aims to foster positive change in society by mobilizing men to support various community projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One key aspect of the initiative is the construction of homes for vulnerable individuals across Guyana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lampkin extended her thanks to the government and the Men on Mission team, saying, “Thanks to the government of Guyana and to the men on a mission and the workers who work along \u2026and make me happy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
