{"id":20174,"date":"2024-06-04T16:18:41","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T16:18:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=20174"},"modified":"2024-06-04T16:18:47","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T16:18:47","slug":"heavy-rains-cause-flooding-in-linden-region-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/heavy-rains-cause-flooding-in-linden-region-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in Linden, Region 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>Heavy rainfall overnight into Tuesday morning caused flooding in several communities across Linden, Region 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The downpour overwhelmed drainage systems, leading to overflowing waterways and inundated homes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One major contributing factor appears to be a blocked culvert in the Noitgedacht area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BOSAI Minerals has mobilized crews to clear the blockage, with the aim of improving drainage for surrounding areas including Kara Kara Mines, Washer Pond Road, and the Railroad areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents in other parts of Linden are also facing floodwaters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Areas like Kara Kara, Rainbow City, Block 42, Silver City, and First, Second, and Third Ally Wismar have all been impacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regional authorities are on the ground assessing the situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Regional Executive Officer, Dwight John, along with regional engineers, Mayor Sharma Solomon, and councillors are all actively involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Wismar, initial reports suggest that blocked drainage systems, likely caused by improper garbage disposal, are significantly worsening the flooding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Public Works is sending mini excavators and trucks to assist with clearing these blockages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Civil Defense Commission is also expected to join the response effort, assisting with assessments and potentially providing aid to affected residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mayor Solomon expressed his sympathies to those impacted by the flooding and assured residents that interventions are underway to bring them relief as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Heavy rainfall overnight into Tuesday morning caused flooding in several communities across Linden, Region 10.
