{"id":20168,"date":"2024-06-04T16:09:40","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T16:09:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=20168"},"modified":"2024-06-04T16:10:01","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T16:10:01","slug":"georgetown-water-infrastructure-gets-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/georgetown-water-infrastructure-gets-upgrade\/","title":{"rendered":"Georgetown Water Infrastructure Gets Upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Nakasia Logan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) is moving forward with its plan to modernize Georgetown&#8217;s water supply system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This next phase will involve replacing outdated pipelines in several major areas of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marlon Daniels, Executive Director of Projects at GWI, explained the project in a recent interview with NCN News. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The current focus is on installing new transmission lines running from Broad Street to the Pegasus Hotel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once completed, the network will be extended from the Bank of Guyana Junction to the Parliament Building and onward to Broad Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These upgrades will create a loop around the city, connecting all the treatment plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> This improved network will allow for increased water pressure and better service for residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is part of a larger effort to improve Georgetown&#8217;s infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GWI is collaborating with the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Local Government to ensure that water network upgrades coincide with road expansion initiatives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This coordinated approach aims to minimize disruption and ensure a more efficient use of resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By replacing aging pipelines and working alongside other government departments, GWI is laying the groundwork for a more reliable water supply and a more livable city for Georgetown residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While there may be some traffic disruptions during off-peak hours as work progresses, the long-term benefits are significant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Nakasia Logan The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) is moving forward with its plan to modernize Georgetown&#8217;s water supply system.
