{"id":19917,"date":"2024-05-28T13:31:05","date_gmt":"2024-05-28T13:31:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=19917"},"modified":"2024-05-28T13:31:06","modified_gmt":"2024-05-28T13:31:06","slug":"verway-and-alphonso-prepare-for-caribbean-squash-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/verway-and-alphonso-prepare-for-caribbean-squash-championship\/","title":{"rendered":"Verway and Alphonso Prepare for Caribbean Squash Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Tyriq Walters<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>National squash players Joshua Verway and Michael Alphonso are gearing up for the Caribbean Squash Championship scheduled for July in the British Virgin Islands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Training diligently at the Georgetown Club Courts, Verway and Alphonso express their enthusiasm for the upcoming championship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alphonso appreciates being selected for the tournament and is grateful for the opportunity to compete, vowing to give his best performance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verway, on the other hand, is happy to represent Guyana and is excited to participate in the Caribbean Squash Championship for the fourth time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their preparations, which began in mid-April, have focused on various aspects of their game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have been working hard on improving their skills and fitness levels to ensure they perform at their peak during the championship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both players acknowledge the significant improvement in their fitness, attributing it to the rigorous training provided by the national team and the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verway has been named team captain, leading a contingent of 40 junior squash players who will represent Guyana across various age categories in the Caribbean Squash Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the championship draws near, Verway and Alphonso are committed to continuing their training and are eager to showcase their skills on the international stage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Tyriq Walters National squash players Joshua Verway and Michael Alphonso are gearing up for the Caribbean Squash Championship scheduled for July in the British Virgin Islands.
