{"id":19823,"date":"2024-05-27T18:07:16","date_gmt":"2024-05-27T18:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=19823"},"modified":"2024-05-27T18:07:38","modified_gmt":"2024-05-27T18:07:38","slug":"road-works-underway-along-east-bank-corridor-ahead-of-cricket-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/road-works-underway-along-east-bank-corridor-ahead-of-cricket-world-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"Road Works Underway Along East Bank Corridor Ahead of Cricket World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><strong>By Delicia Janneire<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roadworks are being undertaken along the East Bank Corridor near the Providence Stadium in preparation for Guyana\u2019s hosting of the Cricket World Cup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Public Works is spearheading these efforts to ensure smooth traffic flow and adequate access for the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, highlighted that the thoroughfare will be heavily utilized during the World Cup and that Guyana has legal obligations to provide appropriate access. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work has started in the Bagotstown area and is progressing well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Edghill provided details on the specific areas where the work is being conducted. The Eccles dumpsite road in Bagotstown is being expanded to four lanes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similar expansions are occurring at Providence, also known as Red Road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, upgrades are being made in Greenfield, and maintenance work is ongoing on Mocha road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister Edghill stressed the importance of road clearing in preparation for the games, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion and minimize disruptions to daily life during the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He expressed optimism that most of the work would be completed in time for the matches, promising improved access and smoother traffic flow even if some projects are not entirely finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guyana will host group stage matches from June 2 to 8 and the semi-final on June 26 at the National Stadium Providence, East Bank of Demerara.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Delicia Janneire Roadworks are being undertaken along the East Bank Corridor near the Providence Stadium in preparation for Guyana\u2019s hosting of the Cricket World Cup.
