{"id":19754,"date":"2024-05-20T16:08:06","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T16:08:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=19754"},"modified":"2024-05-20T16:08:48","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T16:08:48","slug":"upskilling-guyanese-in-the-tourism-sector-action-invest-and-uk-company-collaborate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/upskilling-guyanese-in-the-tourism-sector-action-invest-and-uk-company-collaborate\/","title":{"rendered":"Upskilling Guyanese in the Tourism Sector: Action Invest and UK Company Collaborate"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>Action Invest Caribbean has forged a partnership with a UK-based Tourism and Hospitality company to provide accredited training aimed at empowering young minds with internationally recognized skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) institute, headquartered in London, is actively engaged in offering training and education to both skilled professionals and academically inclined individuals in Guyana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative is in collaboration with local company Action Invest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through tailored programs and courses, participants will receive comprehensive training to excel in various roles within the tourism and hospitality sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Steven Beckworth, CTH\u2019s Director of Marketing and Business Development, highlighted the challenges faced by the local industry and expressed optimism about its potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beckworth emphasized the importance of upskilling local talent to address the shortage of skilled and qualified staff and improve staff retention. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized the value of practical work and creativity in fulfilling the needs of the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chairman of Action Invest, Vishnu Doerga, shared insights into the origins of the partnership, which began three years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He underscored the crucial need for qualified and trained personnel to deliver a high-quality tourism and hospitality product to both locals and visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program has already attracted around one hundred participants, including GOAL beneficiaries, with plans to onboard another one hundred in the coming month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, several Tourism and Hospitality agencies, including the Marriott Hotel, Grand Coastal, and Ramada Princess Hotel, were recognized and awarded Gold Employer Status for their contributions to the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This collaboration between Action Invest Caribbean and the UK-based company marks a significant effort to enhance the capabilities of individuals in Guyana&#8217;s tourism and hospitality sector, contributing to the overall growth and development of the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reported by Nakasia Logan<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Action Invest Caribbean has forged a partnership with a UK-based Tourism and Hospitality company to provide accredited training aimed at empowering young minds with internationally recognized skills.
