{"id":19719,"date":"2024-05-20T15:24:21","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T15:24:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=19719"},"modified":"2024-05-20T15:24:22","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T15:24:22","slug":"tragic-accident-on-linden-highway-claims-five-lives-leaves-four-injured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/tragic-accident-on-linden-highway-claims-five-lives-leaves-four-injured\/","title":{"rendered":"Tragic Accident on Linden Highway Claims Five Lives, Leaves Four Injured"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><strong>By Shawnette Fiedtkou<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a devastating early morning accident on the Linden Highway, five people, including two teachers, lost their lives and four others, including an eleven-year-old girl, were injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fatal collision occurred in the Long Creek area between a silver Spacio and a black Fielder wagon, which were reportedly traveling in opposite directions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deceased have been identified as Dwaylon Farrell, a teacher at New Silvercity Secondary School, Rushell Leacock, a Kwakwani Primary School teacher, Rayhum Leacock, 24, Urani Hall, a 78-year-old retired nurse from Kwakwani, and Clinton Patterson, 68, of Kuru Kuru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The injured were transported to the Linden Hospital Complex. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They include 24-year-old Asheer Grannum from Kwakwani, 50-year-old Roaseanna Bumbury, 76-year-old Aubrey Gandy, and their eleven-year-old granddaughter Ashana Ramascindo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All except the eleven-year-old were later moved to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the hospital, the atmosphere was one of heartbreak and anxiety as relatives and friends awaited news about their loved ones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>James Grant, a member of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and an eyewitness who helped rescue the injured, described the harrowing scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted the difficulty in extracting some of the victims from the wreckage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to the tragedy, residents of Linden are urging drivers to exercise greater caution on the Linden\/Soesdyke Highway to prevent future accidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Parlor in Georgetown for post-mortem examinations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police Division 4(b) is conducting an investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Shawnette Fiedtkou In a devastating early morning accident on the Linden Highway, five people, including two teachers, lost their lives and four others, including an eleven-year-old girl, were injured.&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":19720,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[350],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-19719","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"amp_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/19719","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/4"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=19719"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/19719\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":19721,"href":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/19719\/revisions\/19721"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/19720"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=19719"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=19719"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=19719"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
