{"id":19701,"date":"2024-05-20T15:01:31","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T15:01:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=19701"},"modified":"2024-05-20T15:02:03","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T15:02:03","slug":"conciliation-talks-begin-between-education-ministry-and-teachers-union","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/conciliation-talks-begin-between-education-ministry-and-teachers-union\/","title":{"rendered":"Conciliation Talks Begin Between Education Ministry and Teachers&#8217; Union"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><strong>By Nakasia Logan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conciliation talks aimed at resolving a salary dispute between the Ministry of Education and the Guyana Teachers Union (GTU) commenced today at the Ministry of Labour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This development follows a stalemate in salary negotiations that necessitated third-party intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial round of discussions lasted nearly four hours, during which Chief Education Officer Saddam Hussain expressed optimism about the proceedings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He praised the efforts of Chief Labour Officer Dhaneshwar Deonarine and his team, indicating that the discussions were productive and constructive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President of the GTU, Mark Lyte, provided an overview of the session, noting that both sides were actively working towards initiating the conciliation process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He mentioned that steps are being taken to draft conditions for resumption of work, which will facilitate further progress in the conciliation efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The talks began at 10 a.m. and continued until 1:30 p.m., at which point the teams took a break for consultations with their principals and legal teams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resumption of these negotiations is anticipated to pave the way for a mutually agreeable resolution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Nakasia Logan Conciliation talks aimed at resolving a salary dispute between the Ministry of Education and the Guyana Teachers Union (GTU) commenced today at the Ministry of Labour.
