{"id":19625,"date":"2024-05-10T01:25:12","date_gmt":"2024-05-10T01:25:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=19625"},"modified":"2024-05-10T01:25:45","modified_gmt":"2024-05-10T01:25:45","slug":"british-high-commission-and-ghra-host-human-rights-workshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/british-high-commission-and-ghra-host-human-rights-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"British High Commission and GHRA Host Human Rights Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Saskia Warrick<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The British High Commission, in collaboration with the Guyana Human Rights Association (GHRA), recently organized a three-day Human Rights Workshop aimed at enhancing capacity-building efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative sought to empower civil society organizations, such as the GHRA, in advancing human rights work within Guyana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop facilitated vibrant discussions on various aspects of human rights, including the challenges encountered, best practices, and strategies to promote and safeguard human rights effectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>British High Commissioner, Jane Miller, emphasized the global significance of addressing human rights abuses and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to address these issues comprehensively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Saskia-Human-Rights-Workshop-1.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>President of the GHRA, Mike McCormack, expressed gratitude for the longstanding contributions of human rights advocates in protecting vulnerable groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He acknowledged the invaluable support of the diplomatic community in advancing the cause of human rights within Guyana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Saskia-Human-Rights-Workshop-2.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Funded under the UK&#8217;s Magna Carta fund, which is dedicated to supporting global human rights and democracy work, the workshop exemplified a commitment to strengthening human rights advocacy and protection initiatives worldwide.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Saskia Warrick The British High Commission, in collaboration with the Guyana Human Rights Association (GHRA), recently organized a three-day Human Rights Workshop aimed at enhancing capacity-building efforts.
