(GPL) is diligently wrapping up preparatory works. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Acting Chief Executive Officer of GPL, Kesh Nandlall, all preparations are progressing smoothly without any significant delays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Saskia-Powership-Arrival-1.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Nandlall reassured the public that the Powership is also undergoing necessary construction work to meet birthing requirements, including driving piles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GPL&#8217;s team has nearly completed their tasks in readiness for the scheduled arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preparatory efforts are concentrated on three sections of the transmission line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eastern section of Transmission Line L21 will connect the Powership to the Cane Field Power Station. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the western side will link to the Onverwagt Substation on the West Coast of Berbice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vessel will interconnect separately onto these two lines, with completion expected by tomorrow for berthing and subsequent connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acting CEO Nandlall elaborated on the rationale behind choosing Everton, Berbice, as the connection point for the Powership, citing logistical and infrastructural advantages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Saskia-Powership-Arrival-2.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon integration with the grid, GPL&#8217;s generating capacity will surge to over 200MW, exceeding the current peak demand of 194MW. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This increase in capacity is poised to result in fewer power outages for citizens, without incurring any additional costs for electricity consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With preparations nearing completion, GPL is poised to welcome the 36MW Powership, marking a significant milestone in bolstering Guyana&#8217;s energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Saskia Warrick As the 36-megawatt (MW) Powership gears up for its anticipated arrival tomorrow, May 1st, Guyana Power &amp; Light Inc.
