{"id":19001,"date":"2024-04-22T21:23:05","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T21:23:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=19001"},"modified":"2024-04-22T21:23:14","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T21:23:14","slug":"gpl-prepares-for-power-ship-arrival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/gpl-prepares-for-power-ship-arrival\/","title":{"rendered":"GPL Prepares for Power Ship Arrival"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Saskia Warrick<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preparatory works are currently underway to facilitate the connection of the 36 Megawatts Power Ship, expected to arrive on May 1 and become operational by May 8. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GPL has initiated efforts to swiftly integrate the vessel into the national grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transmission line setup involves three key sections: the eastern segment of Transmission Line L21, linking the power ship to the Cane Field Power Station; the western segment, connecting to the Onverwagt Substation on the West Coast of Berbice; and separate interconnections onto these two lines from the vessel itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ryan Ross, GPL\u2019s Divisional Director for Engineering Services, emphasizes the importance of these preparations, including considerations for the construction of a substation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crucially, the government reassures consumers that they will not incur any additional costs for the power ship, which is being rented for the next two years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This assurance comes directly from Hon.
