{"id":18683,"date":"2024-04-16T14:40:47","date_gmt":"2024-04-16T14:40:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=18683"},"modified":"2024-04-16T14:40:49","modified_gmt":"2024-04-16T14:40:49","slug":"linden-companies-unite-for-occupational-safety-and-health-awareness-walk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/linden-companies-unite-for-occupational-safety-and-health-awareness-walk\/","title":{"rendered":"Linden Companies Unite for Occupational Safety and Health Awareness Walk"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>By Shawnette Fiedkou<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) initiatives in Linden received a boost with a dedicated awareness walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than eight organizations and companies in Linden came together for an OSH awareness walk, showcasing their commitment to promoting safe and healthy work environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The procession, adorned with banners and echoing chants advocating for OSH, commenced at the Linden Hospital Complex and culminated at the Linden to Georgetown Bus Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year&#8217;s event was a collaborative effort involving the Linden Hospital Complex, the Ministry of Labour, Linden Electricity Incorporated (LEI), BOSAI Minerals, and the Regional Democratic Council (RDC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Darwin Bourne, Senior OSH Officer from the Ministry of Labour, emphasized the urgency of the theme &#8220;We are running out of time: ensuring safe and healthy work now in a changing environment,&#8221; highlighting the need to adapt to evolving workplace challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bourne stressed the importance of establishing safety and health committees to address these issues collectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mayor Sharma Solomon of Region 10 echoed Bourne&#8217;s sentiments, urging other companies to join the cause and prioritize workplace safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event also featured competitions, with the National Insurance Scheme winning first prize for the most informative chants, LEI securing second place, and Linden Hospital claiming third. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The RDC was awarded the best banner prize, followed by Linden Hospital and the Department of Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the Department of Education was recognized as the best-dressed unit, adding a creative touch to the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>April has been designated as Occupational Safety and Health Month, with OSH Day slated for April 28th, underscoring ongoing efforts to raise awareness and promote safety in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This collaborative endeavor underscores the collective commitment of Linden&#8217;s organizations and companies towards ensuring safe and healthy work environments for all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Shawnette Fiedkou Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) initiatives in Linden received a boost with a dedicated awareness walk.
