{"id":18644,"date":"2024-04-16T13:53:23","date_gmt":"2024-04-16T13:53:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=18644"},"modified":"2024-04-16T13:53:24","modified_gmt":"2024-04-16T13:53:24","slug":"region-10-transformation-retrieve-community-ground-upgraded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/region-10-transformation-retrieve-community-ground-upgraded\/","title":{"rendered":"REGION 10 TRANSFORMATION: Retrieve Community Ground Upgraded"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>An area that was once swampy and bushy at the head of the Retrieve community is now being used as a recreational facility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the Government Community Ground Enhancement program, work was done to improve and maintain the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, the site clearing and de-bushing, grading, and fencing of the area turned the space into a prime recreation spot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These works were completed by the Government of Guyana though its ground enhancement program that saw several other grounds in the region also being developed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The then swampy ground, which was inactive for four decades is now leveled and covered with sand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Athletes who use the area for training spoke positively about the impact of the upgrades on their performances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ebo McNeil, a 3000 &amp; 5000M Athlete, expressed appreciation for the cleared space, stating that it has significantly improved their training experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, Kenetha Fraser, a 100M\/200M\/Long Jump Athlete, lauded the enhancements, emphasizing the benefits for training grounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kaidon Persaud, an 800M CARIFTA Silver Medalist, attributed part of his success to the improved conditions at the ground. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duquan Farrell, a 100M, 200M\/Long Jump Athlete, also expressed satisfaction with the upgraded facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aside from athletes, the ground is utilized by children from nearby communities, footballers, and schools for recreation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will also be used to host several of the upcoming Linden Town Week events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>By Shannon Totaram<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An area that was once swampy and bushy at the head of the Retrieve community is now being used as a recreational facility.
